This five-volume set examines the golf courses designed by the
renowned British golf course architect during his distinguished career,
from his first design project in 1907 at the Alwoodley Golf Club in his
hometown of Leeds, to his death at his beloved Pasatiempo in
California in 1934.
Throughout those 27 years - with 5 years lost to the Great War -
MacKenzie designed courses in Great Britain and Ireland, Australia,
New Zealand, Canada, South America and the United States of
America, along with hints of possible courses in Continental Europe.
Author Neil Crafter, an Australian-based golf course
architect, has long been fascinated by the life and work of Alister
MacKenzie and decades of meticulous research have culminated in these
five volumes.
The volumes are divided geographically and the course entries within
each volume are listed alphabetically and expertly describe
MacKenzie's involvement.
Every golf course architect has projects that never came to fruition,
along with commissions lost to other architects, and these
'failed' projects are also included for completeness.
Lavishly illustrated with original plans and reports, period
photographs, aerial photographs and maps, these books provide the most
complete record of the works of any Golden Age golf course architect.
Available from Ryan Publishing in hardback cloth bound
sets of five volumes, or softback sets of five volumes. All sets are
supplied in slipcases, and individual softback volumes are available.
